  • Month-on-Month

              The month-on-month growth rate of the retail prices of selected construction materials in NCR went up by 0.4 percent in August from -0.6 percent in July. Except for tinsmithry materials whose index remained stable as it posted a zero growth rate, all the other commodity groups recorded higher monthly growth rates. A higher growth was noted in carpentry and masonry materials index at 0.3 percent in August from their respective rates of -1.4 percent and zero growth in July; electrical materials, 2.0 percent from 0.3 percent; painting materials and related compounds, 0.9 percent from -0.3 percent; plumbing materials, 1.5 percent from 0.2 percent; and miscellaneous construction materials, 0.1 percent from -0.3 percent.

              Upward price adjustments were noticed in lumber, nails, wiring devices, cement, paints, plumbing materials and steel bars. 
     

  • Year-on-Year

              The annual movement of the retail prices of selected construction materials in NCR continued to drop at -9.9 percent in August from -10.4 percent in July. The miscellaneous construction group still posted a negative rate of 42.7 percent. Price increases in carpentry materials also slowed to 0.8 percent in August from 1.4 percent in July; masonry materials, 3.6 percent from 4.4 percent; and tinsmithry materials, 1.7 percent from 2.4 percent. Higher price increments were however, observed in electrical materials, painting materials and related compounds and plumbing materials.
