  • Month-on-Month

              The month-on-month growth rate of the retail prices of selected construction materials in NCR went up at a slower rate of 1.1 percent in July from 7.3 percent in June. Lower price gains were noted in carpentry materials at 0.6 percent in July from 1.4 percent in June; painting materials and related compounds, 0.7 percent from 1.2 percent; plumbing materials, 0.4 percent from 0.8 percent; tinsmithry materials, 0.8 percent from 3.5 percent; and miscellaneous construction materials, 2.4 percent from 28.1 percent. The rest of the commodity groups registered higher monthly growth rates.

              Upward price adjustments were noticed in lumber, plywood, nails, insulated wires and wiring devices, cement, gravel, sand, paints and related compounds, corrugated GI sheets and steel bars.
     

  • Year-on-Year

              The annual growth rate of the retail prices of selected construction materials in NCR further picked up to 18.4 percent in July from 17.8 percent in June as all the commodity groups recorded higher annual growth rates except painting materials and related compounds index whose annual growth rate was lower at 5.5 percent in July from 5.7 percent in June. The annual growth rate of carpentry materials increased to 5.0 percent in July from 4.5 percent in June; electrical materials, 10.3 percent from 9.5 percent; masonry materials, 6.1 percent from 5.8 percent; plumbing materials, 3.6 percent from 3.4 percent; and miscellaneous construction materials, 75.9 percent from 74.4 percent while that of tinsmithry materials remained at 9.2 percent.
