  • Month-on-Month

              The month-on-month growth rate of the retail prices of selected construction materials in NCR went up at a slower pace of 0.1 percent in October from 0.3 percent in September. This was due to the decreases in the indexes of masonry materials at -0.1 percent in October from 0.2 percent in September; tinsmithry materials, -0.4 percent from 0.4 percent; and miscellaneous construction materials, -0.3 percent from 2.8 percent. On the other hand, higher monthly growth rates were seen in the indexes of carpentry materials at 0.4 percent from -0.7 percent; electrical materials, 1.1 percent from 0.9 percent; and painting materials and related compounds and plumbing materials, 0.1 percent from their respective previous month's rates of zero growth and -0.2 percent.

              Upward price adjustments were noted in lumber (tanguile), selected electrical wires and wiring devices and paints. Meanwhile, price reductions were observed in cement, corrugated GI sheets and plain round steel bars. 
     

  • Year-on-Year

              The annual movement of the retail prices of selected construction materials in NCR continued to drop at -2.8 percent in October from -7.5 percent in September. Annual price decline was still noted in miscellaneous construction materials at -18.2 percent from -34.6 percent. Moreover, slower annual growth rates were posted in the indexes of masonry materials, painting materials and related compounds and tinsmithry materials. The rest of the commodity groups recorded higher annual growth rates.
