Retail Price Index of Selected Construction Materials in the National Capital Region (2000=100) : August 2010

  • Month-on-Month

              On a monthly basis, the retail price index of selected construction materials in NCR went up to 0.1 percent in August from -0.1 percent in July. Higher price increases were noted in carpentry materials, electrical materials and painting materials and related compounds. Price uptick in masonry materials index was however, slower at 0.1 percent from 0.2 percent. Meanwhile, price decline was still seen in miscellaneous construction materials index at -0.3 percent from -2.0 percent while that of plumbing materials and tinsmithry materials index remained stable as they still posted zero growth.

              Price hikes were observed in plywood, lawanit, selected common wire nails, electrical wires and paints.
     

  • Year-on-Year

              The annual growth in the retail prices of selected construction materials in NCR eased to 2.6 percent in August from 3.4 percent in July. All the commodity groups registered lower annual price increments except for tinsmithry materials index whose annual rate of price gain remained at 3.9 percent.
