NSO extension offices in Muntinlupa and Pasig begin operations
Two local governments in Metro Manila were allowed by the National Statistics Offices (NSO) to establish extension offices for its front line services for civil registry documents. Applications for copies of certifications of birth, marriage and death are being accepted in the city halls of Muntinlupa and Pasig beginning June 1, 1999.
According to NSO Administrator Tomas Africa, the extension offices shall not be exclusive to the residents in the localities but to all others who are in need of civil registry documents on security paper (SECPA) for local use or travel abroad.
Applications filed in the said extension office shall be available for release in the same location after a week from the date of the receipt of the request. The move is in line with NSO's commitment of bringing its frontline services closer to the public. Other extension offices shall also be established soon in various areas in Metro Manila in partnership with the local officials.
In Muntinlupa, Mayor Jaime Fresnedi announced last Monday that all applications filed in their city shall be received by the Office of the City Civil Registrar in the meantime that the construction of a bigger and better site for this service is still on-going.
