Food, Beverages and Tobacco and Non-FBT Items
(NCR and AONCR – September 2001)

  1. CPI of Food, Beverages and Tobacco (FBT): National Capital Region (NCR) and Areas Outside the National Capital Region (AONCR)

    The seasonally adjusted CPI of FBT in NCR went down to 149.7 in September from 150.4 in August. Meanwhile, the seasonally adjusted CPI of FBT in AONCR increased to 153.8 in September from 153.3 last month.

    For NCR, prices of FBT were pushed down by the seasonal factors in September while in AONCR, prices were not changed by the seasonal factors.

    Compared to August 2001, seasonally adjusted month-on-month inflation of FBT items in NCR further dropped to –0.5 percent in September from –0.2 percent in August. On the other hand, in AONCR, seasonally adjusted FBT items picked up to 0.3 percent this month from 0.1 percent a month ago.

  2. CPI of Non-FBT Items: National Capital Region (NCR) and Areas Outside the National Capital Region (AONCR)

The seasonally adjusted CPI of non-FBT items in NCR and AONCR rose to 176.3 and 176.4 in September, respectively from their corresponding August levels of 175.4 and 175.5. Prices of non-FBT items in NCR were slightly pushed up by the seasonal factors during the month while that for AONCR, prices were pushed down by the seasonal factors.

The month-on-month inflation of the seasonally adjusted CPI for non-FBT items in NCR slightly went up to 0.5 percent in September from 0.4 percent in August while that for AONCR, prices of non-FBT items in AONCR remained at its August rate of 0.5 percent.
