SEASONALLY ADJUSTED CONSUMER PRICE INDEX
Food, Beverages and Tobacco and Non-FBT Items
(NCR and AONCR – October 2001)

  1. A. CPI of Food, Beverages and Tobacco (FBT): National Capital Region (NCR) and Areas Outside the National Capital Region (AONCR)

    The October seasonally adjusted CPI of FBT in NCR remained at its September figure of 149.5. Meanwhile, the seasonally adjusted CPI of FBT in AONCR picked up to 153.9 in October from 153.7 last month.

    Prices of FBT for NCR and AONCR were pushed down by the seasonal factors in October.

    Compared to September 2001, seasonally adjusted month-on-month inflation of FBT items in NCR posted a zero growth from a decline of 0.5 percent a month ago. On the other hand, in AONCR, seasonally adjusted FBT items increased to 0.1 percent, slower than the 0.3 percent registered in September.

  2. CPI of Non-FBT Items: National Capital Region (NCR) and Areas Outside the National Capital Region (AONCR)

The seasonally adjusted CPI of non-FBT items in NCR and AONCR correspondingly went up to 176.8 and 176.6 in October from their respective September levels of 176.3 and 176.4. Prices of non-FBT items in NCR were slightly pushed up by the seasonal factors during the month while that for AONCR, prices were pushed down by the seasonal factors.

The respective month-on-month inflation of the seasonally adjusted CPI for non-FBT items in NCR and AONCR at 0.3 percent and 0.1 percent were lower than their rates of 0.5 percent in September.
