CAVITE
Cavite lies along the southern shore of Manila Bay. It is bounded on the north by Manila Bay and Metro Manila, on the east by Laguna, on the west by the South China Sea, and on the south by Batangas. The province overlooks the enchanting Taal Volcano at the south.
The province name was derived from the Tagalog word "kawit," meaning hook, referring to the shape of the peninsula. It was created as a politico-military in 1614. During the Philippine Revolution in 1896, Cavite was the center of military operations. On June 12, 1898, General Emilio Aguinaldo, the first Philippine president, declared the Philippine Independence in this province.
Cavite has three centers of tourism: the Tagaytay Upland area for its scenic attractions, the Ternate-Naic Corregidor area for its unspoiled beaches, and the Kawit-Cavite City for its historical and cultural attraction. It has two world-class resorts: Puerto Azul and Caylabne.
