  • Month-on-Month

              The month-on-month inflation rate in the retail prices of selected construction materials in NCR went up to 0.5 percent in September from -0.1 percent in August. Higher growth rates were recorded in electrical materials and plumbing materials at 0.3 percent in September from their respective August rates of -0.1 percent and 0.2 percent; masonry materials, 0.4 percent from zero growth; and miscellaneous construction materials, 2.6 percent from -0.5 percent. The rest of the commodity groups posted negative rates.

              Upward price adjustments were noticed in electrical wires and wiring devices, cement, plumbing materials and steel bars.

  • Year-on-Year

              The annual inflation rate of the retail prices of selected construction materials was 3.5 percent in September, the same rate registered in August. The annual price increments of plumbing materials and miscellaneous construction materials were correspondingly higher at 0.1 percent and 12.4 percent in September from -0.5 percent and 9.2 percent, respectively in August. On the other hand, slower annual price gains were observed in the following commodity groups: carpentry materials (0.4% from 1.1%), electrical materials (4.9% from 6.2%), masonry materials (4.0% from 4.1%), painting materials and related compounds (3.0% from 4.9%), and tinsmithry materials (3.1% from 4.5%).
