WHOLESALE PRICE INDEX
The annual inflation of the CMWPI in NCR moved up to 3.8 percent in September from 3.3 percent in August. Faster rates were noted in the annual price increments of the following commodity groups: Fuels and lubricants and glass and glass products, 1.8 percent from -3.5 percent and 1.0 percent, respectively; concrete products, 1.2 percent from 0.8 percent; paints, 2.0 percent from 1.6 percent; reinforcing steel, 7.2 percent from 5.1 percent; G.I. sheets, 8.0 percent from 7.2 percent; and interior electrical fixtures and devices, 0.5 percent from -0.1 percent. Slower annual movements were however observed in the prices of sand, stone and gravel, cement, lumber, hardware, metal pipes, and structural steel. Annual corresponding price declines were registered in plywood and electrical rough-in materials at -2.0 percent and -1.1 percent from their respective rates of -1.8 percent and 0.4 percent. The rest of the commodity groups retained their previous month' rates while inflation for asphalt, blasting materials and machinery and equipment rental were still zero.
