   The population of Region IV grew at the rate of 3.53 percent annually in the first half of the nineties. This is 0.47 percentage point higher than the annual geometric census growth rate during the eighties (3.05 percent)
Among the eleven provinces in Region IV, Batangas registered the largest population at 1,658,567 persons, and Aurora, the smallest at 159,621 persons.
Cavite was the fastest growing province in the region with an annual growth rate of 6.47 percent, while Romblon was the slowest at 1.36 percent.
