  The population of Region VI grew at the rate of 1.30 percent annually in the first half of the nineties. This is 0.47 percentage point lower than the annual geometric census growth rate during the eighties (1.77 percent)
Among the six provinces in Region VI,  Negros Occidental registered the largest population at 2,434,186 persons, and Guimaras, the smallest at 126,470 persons.
Aklan and Negros Occidental were the fastest growing provinces in the region with an annual growth rate of 1.43 percent, while Iloilo was the slowest at 1.13 percent.
