The total population of Autonomous Region of
                   Muslim Mindanao (ARMM)
                   as of Sep. 1, 1995 is
2,020,903
    Lanao del Sur   571,804       Sulu              536,201
   Maguindanao   662,180       Tawi-Tawi     250,718
  The population of ARMM grew at the rate of 1.80 percent annually in the first half of the nineties. This is 1.25 percentage point lower than the annual geometric census growth rate during the eighties (3.06 percent)
Among the four provinces in ARMM,
      Maguindanao registered the largest population
                           at 662,180 persons, and  
      Tawi-Tawi, the smallest at 250,718 persons.
Sulu was the fastest growing province in the
         region with an annual growth rate
         of 2.50 percent, while
Maguindanao was the slowest at 0.92 percent.
