Industry and Trade Statistics Department

  1. Provides overall direction in the formulation of plans and programs for the conduct of establishment-based censuses and surveys and the compilation of administrative based statistics for all economic sectors;
  2. Coordinates with NSO Regional Offices and the other organic units of the agency regarding the conduct of establishment-based censuses and surveys;
  3. Monitors the implementation of the workplan and activities of the divisions in the department;
  4. Provides directions in the design, construction and maintenance of sampling frames for establishments and enterprises surveys;
  5. Coordinates with various government and non-government agencies regarding the conduct of establishment-based surveys and censuses in order to:
  •  Identify data needs and gaps
  •  Discuss plans and programs for the efficient conduct of establishment-based censuses and surveys and compilation of administrative-based statistics
  • Review tabulation and processing specifications to ensure consistency and adherence to national policy and standard procedure but with due consideration to international comparability
  • Evaluate and assess censuses and survey results and other indicators generated form administrative-based documents; and
  • Present censuses and survey results during data dissemination and/or data appreciation fora
  1. Coordinates with national and international agencies for the conduct of special surveys aimed at generating economic indicators for national and international policy formulation;
  2. Provides technical assistance to NSO field offices, national and international agencies and other private institutions and individuals on matters related to establishment-based surveys and the indicators generated, and to the compilation of administrative-based statistics;
  3. Provides technical assistance in the setting of standards and classification systems to the Philippine Statistical System and the international trade system in the field of economic, trade and price statistics;
  4.  Reviews press releases, special releases, reports on the censuses, surveys and other projects prepared by the divisions in the department before these are published; and
  5.  Performs other functions as maybe assigned form time to time.
