Education must start young, even for the urban poor, which is
why QC's 201daycare centers, with supplement feeding stations make sure that the
very young are given a good start in life. The QC government aim is to
provide enough free daycare facilities for up to 30% of QC's three to four year
old population. Improvements are currently being done to upgrade some of
the these facilities and make them even more child-friendly.
At present the QC government is providing free tuition fee
for kindergarten classes offered in some public schools. Formerly, tuition
fees of Php 100 a month per pupil were asked. The City School Board has
allotted Php 11.52 million for the payment of the honorarium of Php 2000 a month
per teacher in these classes.
