Housing HIGHLIGHTS Quezon
City The
total population of Quezon City as of May 1, 2000 is 2.17 million. The
2000 population of the Quezon City increased by 184 thousand over the 1995
census figure of 1.98 million (with September 1, 1995 as reference date) and 507
thousand over the 1990 census figure of 1.66 million. The
population of Quezon City grew at the rate of 1.92 percent in the second
half of the nineties.
If the average annual growth rate of the population of the Quezon City
continues at 1.92 percent, then the population of this region is expected to
double in 36 years. The
number of households in the Quezon City increased to 2.16 million, or by 179
thousand from the 1995 figure of 1.99 million. The average household size
registered at 4.49 persons, down from the 1995 figure of 5 persons. This means
that for every 100 households
with 500 persons, the number of members decreased by 51 persons. Among
the four (4) congressional district, District II has 54% of the total population
of Quezon City with 1,163,537 people. Barangay Commonwealth registered the
highest population at 120,569 persons, Barangay Payatas at 112,690 people and
Barangay Batasan Hills with 109,723 residents.
District III has the lowest population with only 12% of the total
population of Quezon City and correspondingly one of its component barangay -
Bgy. Mangga has the lowest population with only 494 person.
