SEASONALLY ADJUSTED CONSUMER PRICE INDEX Food, Beverages and Tobacco (FBT) and Non-FBT Items (NCR and AONCR - February 2005)
The seasonally adjusted CPI of FBT in NCR and AONCR correspondingly increased to 118.6 and 122.1 from their respective January levels of 118.2 and 121.3. Seasonal factor such as the hot weather condition experienced during the month resulted to abundant supply of fish, eggs, fruits and vegetables in the markets. Moreover, the low demand for meat due to the onset of the Lenten season brought down prices of chicken and pork in the two areas. Thus, prices of FBT items in NCR and AONCR were generally pushed down by this seasonal factor relative to the expected trend. Compared with January 2005, prices of seasonally adjusted FBT items in NCR went up to 0.3 percent from its last month’s rate of -0.4 percent. Similarly, prices of seasonally adjusted FBT items in AONCR slightly moved upward to 0.7 percent from 0.6 percent. The seasonally adjusted CPI of non-FBT items in NCR and AONCR respectively picked up to 133.6 and 131.0 in February from their corresponding levels of 132.9 and 130.6 in January. The increments in the prices of the seasonally adjusted CPI for non-FBT items in NCR slowed to 0.5 percent in February from 1.3 percent in January. On the other hand, prices of seasonally adjusted CPI for non-FBT items in AONCR grew to 0.3 percent from 0.2 percent. For technical notes, other related information and updates,
