Food, Beverages and Tobacco (FBT) and Non-FBT Items
(NCR and AONCR - November 2005)

  1. CPI of Food, Beverages and Tobacco (FBT): National Capital Region (NCR) and Areas Outside the National Capital Region (AONCR)

    The seasonally adjusted CPI of FBT in NCR and AONCR posted correspondingly at 124.1 and 127.6 in November were higher than their respective October levels of 123.4 and 126.8.

    Seasonal factor like the on-going harvest season of palay still noticed in selected provinces lowered the price of rice in AONCR. In NCR, its price remained stable. Thus, prices of FBT items in the two areas were generally pushed down by this seasonal factor relative to the expected trend.

    Price movements of seasonally adjusted CPI for FBT items in NCR and AONCR were registered at 0.6 percent in November.

  2. CPI of Non-FBT items: National Capital Region (NCR) and Areas Outside the National Capital Region (AONCR)

The seasonally adjusted CPI of non-FBT items in NCR picked up to 143.4 in November from 142.5 in October. Likewise, the seasonally adjusted CPI of non-FBT items in AONCR increased to 138.5 from 136.6. The continued production of selected goods in preparation for the holiday season resulting to adequate supply of goods in the markets pushed down prices of non-FBT items in NCR. However, this seasonal factor did not pull down prices of non-FBT items in AONCR.

The month-on-month inflation of the seasonally adjusted CPI for non-FBT items in NCR remained at 0.6 percent while that for AONCR, the index climbed to 1.4 in November from 0.7 percent in October.
