SEASONALLY ADJUSTED
The seasonally adjusted CPI of FBT items in NCR moved at its July level of 160.3 while in AONCR, its level went up to 176.3 from 176.1. The stormy weather condition experienced during the month due to typhoon Juaning constrained the fishermens fishing trips. This resulted to the limited supply of selected fish species in the wet markets. Price additions in off-season fruits were also observed in selected regions. These seasonal factors raised prices of FBT items in AONCR. Meanwhile, these seasonal factors did not push up prices of FBT items in NCR relative to the expected trend. The monthly rate of change of the seasonally adjusted CPI for FBT items in NCR was zero in August from 0.3 percent in July. Meanwhile, prices of the seasonally adjusted CPI for FBT items in AONCR moved up at a slower rate of 0.1 percent from 0.2 percent last month. The seasonally adjusted CPI of non-FBT items in NCR and AONCR correspondingly posted at 176.2 and 173.4 in August were higher than their respective July levels of 175.9 and 173.1. The lean month of August pushed up prices of non-FBT items in the two areas relative to the expected trend. Compared to a month ago, prices of the seasonally adjusted CPI for non- FBT items in NCR and AONCR increased by 0.2 percent. For technical notes and
