  The population of Region V grew at the rate of 1.91 percent annually in the first half of the nineties. This is 0.73 percentage point higher than the annual geometric census growth rate during the eighties (1.18 percent)
Among the six provinces in Region V, Camarines Sur registered the largest population at   1,432,598 persons, and Catanduanes, the smallest at 202,464 persons.
Sorsogonwas the fastest growing province in the region  with an annual growth rate of 2.35 percent, while Catanduaneswas the slowest at 1.50 percent.
