2010 Annual Survey of Philippine Business and Industry (ASPBI) - Information & Communication : Final Results

Computer programming, consultancy and related activities leads among industries

The final results of the 2010 Annual Survey of Philippine Business and Industry conducted nationwide covered a total of 1,736 establishments for all employment sizes engaged in Information and communication. As shown in Table 1, computer programming, consultancy and related activities industries led the section with 437 (25.2%) establishments. Other telecommunications activities and radio broadcasting followed with 282 (16.2%) and 263 (15.1%) establishments, respectively. Figure 1 shows the percentage distribution of establishments by industry group in 2010.

Medical and dental practices lead the section

The final results of the 2010 Annual Survey of Philippine Business and Industry (ASPBI) conducted nationwide for Human health and social work activities reported a total of 4,451 establishments. As shown in Figure 1, medical and dental practices activities garnered the highest number of establishments at 3,342 (75.1%). This was followed by establishments engaged in hospital activities with 871 (19.6%). Ranked third are the combined establishments engaged in social work activities without accommodation with 103 (2.3%). The rest of the activities contributed about 3.0 percent of the total.

Photographic activities industry dominates the sector

Final results of the 2010 Annual Survey of Philippine Business and Industry (ASPBI) showed that there were 6,251 establishments engaged in Professional, scientific and technical activities. Majority (90.5%) or 5,655 establishments had total employment (TE) of less than 20. The remaining 9.5 percent or 596 establishments were with total employment (TE) of 20 and over.

Figure 1 shows that photographic activities registered the highest with 1,477 establishments or 23.6 percent of the total. Legal activities, ranked second with 20.3 percent and management consultancy activities, third with 12.4 percent.

Other financial service activities, except insurance and pension funding activities industry dominates the sector

The final results of the 2010 Annual Survey of Philippine Business and Industry (ASPBI) showed that the Philippines had a total of 14,213 establishments engaged in Financial and Insurance Activities. Majority (95.4%) or 13,565 establishments had total employment (TE) of less than 20. The remaining 4.6 percent or 648 establishments were with total employment (TE) of 20 and over.

As shown in Figure 1, other financial service activities, except insurance and pension funding activities registered the highest with 84.7 percent of the total. Monetary intermediation, ranked second with 5.5 percent.
