Retail sale in non-specialized stores leads among industries

Preliminary results of the 2010 Annual Survey of Philippine Business and Industry (ASPBI) showed that the Philippines had a total of 4,762 establishments with total employment (TE) of 20 and over engaged in Wholesale and Retail Trade; Repair of Motor Vehicles and Motorcycles. As shown in Figure 1, retail sale in non-specialized stores, garnered the highest with 770 establishments or 16.2 percent of the total number. Retail sale of other household equipment in specialized stores ranked second with 595 establishments (12.5%). A close third was wholesale of household goods with 570 establishments (12.0%). Preliminary results of the 2010 Annual Survey of Philippine Business and Industry (ASPBI) showed that a total of 380 establishments with total employment of 20 and over were engaged in Real Estate Activities.

Monetary intermediation industry dominates the sector

Preliminary results of the 2010 Annual Survey of Philippine Business and Industry (ASPBI) showed that the Philippines had a total of 648 establishments with Total Employment of 20 and over engaged in Financial and Insurance Activities. As shown in Figure 1, Monetary intermediation registered the highest, with 38.7 percent of the total. Other financial service activities, except insurance and pension funding activities, ranked second with 28.5 percent and Insurance, third with 14.7 percent.

Computer programming, consultancy and related activities leads among industries

The preliminary results of the 2010 Annual Survey of Philippine Business and Industry conducted nationwide covered a total of 537 establishments with total employment (TE) of 20 and over engaged in Information and communication activities. Computer programming, consultancy and related activities industries lead the section with 181 (33.7%) establishments. Publishing of books, periodicals and other publishing activities and Radio broadcasting followed with 70 (13.0%) and 52 (9.7%) establishments, respectively. Figure 1 shows the percentage distribution of establishment by industry group in 2010.

Preliminary results of the 2010 Annual Survey of Philippine Business and Insudtry (ASPBI) showed that the Philippines had a total of 586 establishments with Total Employment (TE) of 20 and over engaged in Professional, Scientific and Technical Activities. Figure 1 shows that Architectural and engineering activities and related technical consultancy registered the highest number of establishment with 148, comprising 25.3 percent of the total. Advertising, ranked second with 17.6 percent and Management consultancy activities, third with 16.4 percent.
