2010 ASPBI - Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) Activities : Preliminary Results

This Special Release on BPOs is based on a special tabulation from the preliminary results of the 2010 Annual Survey of Philippine Business and Industry for total employment 20 and over, specifically from the sections on Information and Communication, and Administrative and Support Service Activities. BPO activities cut across these two sections of the economy.

2009 Labor Productivity in Agro-Industry Sectors

This Special Release presents the labor productivity of the agro-industry sector of the final results of the 2009 Annual Survey of Philippine Business and Industry. Establishments in the survey are categorized as micro, small, medium and large establishments (MSMLE) using employment size as the classification variable. Refer to the Technical Notes for the classification.

2010 Annual Survey on Philippine Business and Industry - Economy-Wide for Establishments with Total Employment of 20 and Over : Preliminary Results

Preliminary results of the 2010 Annual Survey of Philippine Business and Industry for total employment (TE) of 20 and over showed that the total number of establishments for the Philippines declined by 1.7 percent from 24,034 in 2009 to 23,630 in 2010 (Table 1). Of the 18 sections as shown in Figure 1, one out of five establishments was engaged in Wholesale and Retail Trade (4,762) or in Manufacturing (4,643). These were followed by Accommodation and Food Service Activities (3,728) and Education (3,012). On the other hand, Mining and Quarrying with 75 establishments, numbered the least.

Personal services for wellness, except sports activities industry dominates other service activities section

From the preliminary results of the 2010 Annual Survey of Philippine Business and Industry, the Philippines had a total of 282 establishments with total employment (TE) of 20 and over engaged in Other Service Activities. Personal services for wellness, except sports activities topped the sector with 212 establishments or 75.2 percent. This was followed by Repair of personal and household goods industry with 22 establishments (7.8%). Figure 1 shows the percent distribution of establishments by industry group in 2010.
