Construction Statistics from Approved Building Permits : First Quarter 2009 (Preliminary Results)

Number of approved building permit applications higher by 19.7 percent

Approved building permit applications nationwide reached 27,282 during the first quarter of 2009, This number posted a growth of 19.7 percent from the 22,787 applications received during the same period of 2008.

Residential building construction, with 19,608 approved building permits, rose by 21.3 percent from 16,159 approved building permits during the same quarter of 2008. Non-residential building constructions also grew to a remarkable 42.6 percent to 4,180 from 2,931 during the same quarter of 2008.

However, combined approved building permits for additions, alterations and repairs with a total of 3,494 went down by 5.5 percent from 3,697 approved building permits recorded during the same quarter of 2008.

Number of Approved building permit applications grows by 23.2 percent

Total number of approved building permit applications nationwide reached 25,546 during the fourth quarter of 2008. This represents a growth of 23.2 percent from the 20,737 applications received during the same period of 2007.

Residential building construction with 19,859 approved building permits jumped by 37.5 percent from 14,441 approved building permits during the same quarter of 2007. Non-residential building constructions, on the other hand, slid by 1.4 percent to 2,420 from 2,454 recorded during the same quarter of 2007.

Approved building permit applications increases by 6.1 percent

Approved building permit applications nationwide was 22,817 during the third quarter of 2008, registering an increase of 6.1 percent compared with 21,513 applications received during the same period of 2007.

Residential building construction went up by 12.2 percent to 16,997 from 15,145 approved building permits during the same quarter of 2007. Non-residential constructions, likewise, increased by 4.8 percent to 2,660 from 2,539 recorded during the same quarter of 2007.

Approved building permit applications posts a 9.3 percent growth

Approved building permits nationwide were recorded at 25,145 during the second quarter of 2008, representing an increase of 9.3 percent compared with 23,003 applications received during the same period of 2007.

An increase in applications was observed for both residential and non-residential building construction. Residential building construction went up by 16.9 percent to 18,451 from 15,781 approved building permits during the same quarter of 2007. Non-residential constructions, likewise, increased by 7.5 percent to 2,707 from 2,518 recorded during the same quarter of 2007.
