Revenue from merchandise exports for the first four months of 1998 remained on the upswing by posting a 19.9 percent growth to $9.101 billion from $7.588 billion last year.
For April 1998, aggregate receipts grew by 9.8 percent to $2.285 billion from $2.082 billion last year, which was an increase of $202.10 million.
Exports of goods for the first quarter of 1998 increased by 23.8 percent to $6.815 billion from $5.506 billion last year.
Receipts for March 1998 alone reached $2.473 billion or 23.6 percent higher than $2.001 billion a year ago. It also increased by 11.0 percent from $2.227 billion last February 1998.
Merchandise exports for the first half of 1997 improved by 22.1 percent to $11.697 billion from $9.582 billion last year generating additional dollar-inflows valued at $2.115 billion.
For June 1997, exports of goods posted an 18.5 percent gain as receipts reached $2.126 billion, surpassing $1.793 billion in 1996 by $333 million.
