Revenue earned from merchandise exports posted a 22.8 percent increase as January to August 1997 receipts reached $16.023 billion exceeding $13.050 billion in 1996 by $2.973 billion.
Value of exports for August alone grew by 27.2 percent to $2.256 billion, an increase of $482 million from $1.774 billion a year earlier. Compared to the previous month, exports gained by 9.1 percent from $2.067 billion.
Income from merchandise exports for the first seven months of the year improved by 22.0 percent to $13.763 billion from $11.276 billion last year.
For July 1997 alone, export shipments posted a 21.8 percent gain as receipts reached $2.063 billion, surpassing $1.694 billion in 1996 by $369.67 million.
Aggregate earning from exports for the first six months of 1998 amounted to $13.904 billion, which increased by 18.8 percent over $11.700 billion last year.
Total earnings for June alone reached $2.389 billion for a 12.2 percent growth over $2.129 billion in 1997.
Merchandise exports for January to July 1998 grew by 19.1 percent to $16.404 billion from $13.767 billion during the same period in 1997.
For the month of July, total earnings reached $2.499 billion, surpassing $2.067 billion last year by 20.9 percent. Except for the April and June exports, year-on-year growth has been more than 20 percent in 1998.
Value of exports for the first five months of 1997 grew by 22.7 percent to $9.558 billion, an increase of $1.769 million from $7.789 billion recorded a year earlier.
Receipts from merchandise exports for May 1997 alone posted a 22.2 percent gain as receipts reached $1.970 billion, surpassing $1.612 billion in May 1996 by $357 million.
