External Trade Performance : March 2011

Total external trade in goods for the first quarter of 2011 (January to March) reached $27.805 billion, a 15.4 percent increment from $24.104 billion registered during the same period in 2010. Total imports posted a 22.0 percent annual increase to $15.586 billion from $12.772 billion. Similarly, total exports were up by 7.8 percent to $12.219 billion in January to March of 2011 from $11.331 billion in 2010. Thus, the balance of trade in goods (BOT-G) for the Philippines posted a deficit of $3.368 billion during the 3-month period in 2011, a value higher than the $1.441 billion deficit in the same 3-month period last year.

External Trade Performance : April 2011

Total external trade in goods for the first four months of 2011 (January to April) reached $37.630 billion, a 16.6 percent increment from $32.284 billion registered during the same period in 2010. Total imports posted a 21.7 percent annual increase to $21.110 billion from $17.341 billion. Similarly, total exports were up by 10.6 percent to $16.521 billion in January to April of 2011 from $14.943 billion in 2010. Thus, the balance of trade in goods (BOT-G) for the Philippines posted a deficit of $4.589 billion during the 4-month period in 2011, a value higher than the $2.398 billion deficit in the same 4-month period last year.

External Trade Performance : May 2011

Total external trade in goods for January to May in 2011 reached $46.626 billion, representing a 12.8 percent increment from $41.337 billion registered during the same period a year earlier. Similarly, total imports grew by 17.4 percent to $25.997 billion from $22.152 billion. On the other hand, aggregate exports were up by 7.5 percent to $20.629 billion in January to May of 2011 from $19.185 billion of the previous year. Thus, the balance of trade in goods (BOT-G) for the Philippines posted a deficit at $5.368 billion, higher compared to last year deficit of $2.968 billion.

External Trade Performance : June 2011

Total external trade in goods for the first semester of 2011 (January to June) reached $55.257 billion, representing a 10.3 percent increment from $50.119 billion registered during the same period a year earlier. Similarly, total imports grew by 15.6 percent to $30.501 billion from $26.377 billion. On the other hand, aggregate exports were up by 4.3 percent to $24.757 billion in January to June of 2011 from $23.741 billion of the previous year. Thus, the balance of trade in goods (BOT-G) for the Philippines posted a deficit at $5.744 billion for the first 6-month period of 2011, a value higher than the $2.636 billion deficit recorded during the same period in 2010.

External Trade Performance : July 2011

Total external trade in goods for January to July 2011 reached $64.686 billion, representing a 9.1 percent increment from $59.312 billion registered during the same period a year earlier. Similarly, total imports grew by 14.3 percent to $35.500 billion from $31.065 billion. On the other hand, aggregate exports were up by 3.3 percent to $29.186 billion in January to July of 2011 from $28.246 billion of the previous year. Thus, the balance of trade in goods (BOT-G) for the Philippines posted a deficit at $6.314 billion for the first 7-month period of 2011, a value higher than the $2.819 billion deficit recorded during the same period in 2010.
