Merchandise Export Performance : November 2010

The value of Philippines merchandise export for November 2010 was estimated at $4.136 billion, higher by 11.2 percent from $3.718 billion recorded during the same period of 2009. Month - on - month, receipts from merchandise exports declined by 13.4 percent from $4.776 billion posted in October 2010. On the other hand, aggregate merchandise exports for the period January to November 2010 increased by 34.5 percent to $47.220 billion from $35.115 billion estimated from the same months of 2009.

Merchandise Export Performance : December 2010

The value of Philippine merchandise exports for December 2010 was estimated at $4.162 billion. It represents a 25.3 percent increase from $3.321 billion recorded in December of 2009. Month - on - month, receipts from merchandise exports went up slightly by 0.4 percent from $4.146 billion posted in November 2010. Aggregate merchandise exports in January to December of 2010, on the other hand, incremented by 33.7 percent to $51.393 billion from $38.436 billion estimated from the same period of 2009.

External Trade Performance : January 2011

Total external trade in goods for January 2011 reached $9.313 billion, representing a 18.4 percent increase from $7.867 billion recorded during the same month in 2010. This was due to the 23.9 percent upward trend of total imports to $5.313 billion from $4.287 billion in January 2010. The same was true for exports where a 11.8 percent increment was observed to $4.000 billion from $3.579 billion in January 2010. Thus, the balance of trade in goods (BOT-G) for the Philippines in January 2011 registered a deficit of $1.312 billion from $708.00 million deficit in same period last year.

External Trade Performance : February 2011

Total external trade in goods for the first two months of 2011 (January to February) reached $17.856 billion, a 16.4 percent increment from $15.341 billion registered during the same period in 2010. Total imports posted a 22.0 percent annual increase to $9.991 billion from $8.192 billion. Similarly, total exports were up by 10.0 percent to $7.865 billion in January to February of 2011 from $7.150 billion in 2010. Thus, the balance of trade in goods (BOT-G) for the Philippines posted a deficit of $2.125 billion during the 2-month period in 2011, a value higher than the $1.042 billion deficit in the same 2-month period last year.
