Foreign Trade Statistics of the Philippines

Focuses on the quantity and value of Philippine trade with other countries for the calendar year. Contains comparative data for previous years and a historical table on Philippine external trade dating back to 1880.

Starting 1993, FTS comes in two separate volumes: exports and imports. These two feature principal exports and imports; number of exporters and importers by value; exports and imports by major commodity group; and the latest addition, exports and imports to major countries, by section and division.

Volumes I and II contain summary and detailed statistical tables on foreign trade. Beside domestic exports, the latter also includes data on reexports.

Discovering Facts and Figures from the Censuses of the First 100 Years of the Republic

 

Contains a glimpse of our country's past in facts and figures which have helped shape national progress and development through the years. Insights on the NSO as an institution and its various activities and processes that made history are likewise presented. It was completed on the month of June in time for the 100 years celebration of the country's independence. And, on June 12, 1998, the Centennial QuickStat, a one-page compilation of the most requested statistics, was released to the public and landed in leading newspapers.

Statistical information available at a glance includes population, vital statistics, foreign trade, establishments and agriculture during the Spanish, American, Commonwealth periods and that of the 90s. It is one of the special features of the publication.

The publication has been passed and approved by the National Historical Institute (NHI) and will form part of the collection in the NHI Historical Data Bank. Its official launching was held on August 19, 1998, on the occasion of the NSO's 58th Anniversary.

Merchandise Export Performance : September 2011

Export earnings in September 2011 went down by 27.4 percent from $5.341 billion to $3.876 billion recorded during the same period of the previous year. Month-on-month, it fell by 6.0 percent from $4.123 billion in August 2011.

Total receipts from merchandise exports during January to September declined by 3.1 percent from $38.362 billion to $37.185 billion during the same period a year earlier.

External Trade Performance : October 2011

Total external trade in goods for January to October 2011 reached $91.815 billion, representing a 4.1 percent increment from $88.178 billion registered during the same period a year earlier. Similarly, total imports grew by 12.2 percent to $50.521 billion compared to $45.028 billion posted during the same period a year earlier. Aggregate exports, on the other hand, fell by 4.3 percent from $43.150 billion in January to October of previous year to $41.293 billion. Thus, the balance of trade in goods (BOT-G) for the Philippines posted a deficit of $9.228 billion, a value higher than the $1.878 billion deficit recorded during the same period in 2010.
