The Magna Carta of Women is comprehensive women’s human rights law that seeks to eliminate discrimination against women by recognizing, protecting, fulfilling and promoting the rights of Filipino women, especially those in marginalized sector.
In 2007, males continued to outnumber females in the province of Sultan Kudarat. As shown on the left, a sex ratio of 106 males over 100 females was noted. Males outnumbered females from age group under 1 up to age group 60 to 64. Females had only overtaken male population from age group 65 and over.
In 2005, more than half (55.4%) or 45,225 of the 81,578 workers engaged in business process outsourcing activities were women. Women workers dominated in medical transcription industries (74.5%), data processing (65.2%) and call center activities (58.8%) (Figure 1).
Based on 2002 Census of Agriculture and Fisheries (CAF), male operators dominated agriculture sector. Of the 4.8 million agricultural operators, 89 percent are males while only 11 percent are females. Agricultural operators had a median age of 46 years. This means that half of the agricultural operators were below 46 years old. The median age among male agricultural operators was 45 years old while among female agricultural operators was 56 years old. This means that female agriculture operators were generally older than their male counterpart.
