Total external trade in goods for January to June 2003 amounted to $35.639 billion or 6.0 percent higher than $33.608 billion during the same period last year. The bill for foreign-made merchandise rose by 9.9 percent to $18.571 billion from $16.896 billion. Likewise, exports registered a year-on-year growth rate of 2.1 percent to an aggregate dollar revenue of $17.069 billion from $16.712 billion a year earlier. Balance of trade deficit for the Philippines reached $1.502 billion compared to last years value which stood at $185 million.

Total external trade in goods for January to August 2003 amounted to $47.910 billion or 3.2 percent higher than $46.446 billion during the same period a year ago. The bill for foreign-made merchandise increased by 6.1 percent to $24.908 billion from $23.479 billion. Likewise, exports registered a year-on-year growth rate of 0.2 percent to an aggregate dollar revenue of $23.002 billion from $22.967 billion a year earlier. Balance of trade deficit for the Philippines reached $1.905 billion compared to last years value which stood at $513 million.

Total external trade in goods for January to October 2003 amounted to $60.595 billion or 3.0 percent higher than $58.807 billion during the same period a year earlier. The bill for foreign-made merchandise increased by 5.0 percent to $31.106 billion from $29.616 billion. Likewise, exports recorded a year-on-year growth rate of 1.0 percent to an aggregate dollar revenue of $29.489 billion from $29.191 billion a year ago. Balance of trade in goods (BOT-G) deficit for the Philippines reached $1.617 billion, higher than last years value of $424 million.
