External Trade Performance : December 2010

Total external trade in goods for January to December 2010 reached $106.134 billion, a 30.2 percent increment from $81.527 billion registered during the same period in 2009. Total imports posted a 26.9 percent annual increase to $54.702 billion from $43.092 billion. Similarly, an increase of 33.8 percent for merchandise exports was noted to $51.432 billion in January to December of 2010 from $38.436 billion during the same period in 2009. Thus, the balance of trade in goods (BOT-G) for the Philippines registered a deficit of $3.270 billion in 2010, a value lower than the $4.656 billion deficit in 2009.

External Trade Performance : November 2010

Total external trade in goods for January to November 2010 reached $97.002 billion, a 30.6 percent increment from $74.270 billion registered during the same period in 2009. Total imports posted a 27.1 percent annual increase to $49.772 billion from $39.155 billion. Similarly, an increase of 34.5 percent for merchandise exports was noted to $47.230 billion in January to November of 2010 from $35.115 billion during the same period in 2009. Thus, the balance of trade in goods (BOT-G) for the Philippines registered a deficit of $2.541 billion during the 11-month period in 2010, a value lower than the $4.041 billion deficit in the same 11-month period last year.

External Trade Performance : October 2010

Total external trade in goods for January to October 2010 reached $87.911 billion, a 31.4 percent increment from $66.897 billion registered during the same period in 2009. Total imports posted a 26.3 percent annual increase to $44.826 billion from $35.501 billion. Similarly, an increase of 37.2 percent for merchandise exports was noted to $43.084 billion in January to October of 2010 from $31.397 billion during the same period in 2009. Thus, the balance of trade in goods (BOT-G) for the Philippines registered a deficit of $1.742 billion during the 10-month period in 2010, a value lower than the $4.104 billion deficit in the same 10-month period last year.

External Trade Performance : September 2010

Total external trade in goods for January to September 2010 reached $78.246 billion, a 31.9 percent increment from $59.341 billion registered during the same period in 2009. Total imports posted a 26.0 percent annual increase to $39.938 billion from $31.692 billion. Similarly, an increase of 38.6 percent for merchandise exports was noted to $38.308 billion in January to September of 2010 from $27.649 billion during the same period in 2009. Thus, the balance of trade in goods (BOT-G) for the Philippines registered a deficit of $1.629 billion during the 9-month period in 2010, a value lower than the $4.044 billion deficit in the same 9-month period last year.

External Trade Performance : January 2012

Total external trade in goods for January 2012 reached $9.257 billion, representing a 0.5 percent decrease from $9.303 billion recorded during the same month in 2011. This was due to the 3.2 percent downward trend of total imports from $5.302 billion to $5.134 billion in January 2012. On the other hand, exports showed a 3.1 percent increment to $4.123 billion from $4.000 billion in January 2011. Thus, the balance of trade in goods (BOT-G) for the Philippines in January 2012 registered a deficit of $1.010 billion from $1.302 billion deficit in same period last year.
