Housing Expenditures Increased In 2000(Results from the 2000 Family Income and Expenditures Survey, NSO)

Total housing expenditures was reported at P272.3 billion in 2000, an increase of 26.2 percent from P215.8 billion in 1997. This translates to P17,833 housing expenditures for each family in 2000.

Adjusted for the 22.0 percent inflation measured from 1997 to 2000, total housing expenditures for 2000, based on 1997 prices was, P223.2 billion, an increase of 3.4 percent from the 1997 expenditures.

Dissemination Forum Highlights 2006 FIES Final Results

The major findings of the 2006 FIES will be presented by the National Statistics Office (NSO) in a Data Dissemination Forum on the Final Results of the 2006 Family Income and Expenditure Survey (FIES) slated at 2 pm on January 30, 2008 at the NSO Training Room in Sta. Mesa, Manila.

Apart from presentation of the highlights of the Survey, the forum will include discussion on the policy implications of the FIES, as well as a demonstration on the use of the 2006 FIES Public Use File (PUF).

A Filipino Family Earns an Average Annual Income of P206 Thousand in 2009 (Preliminary Results from the 2009 Family Income and Expenditure Survey)

Filipino families earned P206 thousand on the average, and spent P176 thousand on the average in 2009, based from the preliminary results of the 2009 Family Income and Expenditure Survey (FIES). These figures translate to an average annual family savings of P31 thousand pesos in 2009 (Table 1). On a monthly basis, the reported average income was P17,200 and average expenditure was P14,700 in 2009.

Families in the Bottom 30 Percent Income Group Earned 62 Thousand Pesos in 2009 (Final Results from the 2009 Family Income and Expenditure Survey)

Filipino families earned 206 thousand pesos yearly, on the average, according to the 2009 Family Income and Expenditure Survey (FIES). Families in the bottom 30 percent income group, which may be considered as poor families, had much smaller yearly earnings at an average of 62 thousand pesos. In comparison, families in the upper 70 percent income group earned an average of 268 thousand pesos a year. On a monthly basis, the reported average income of the families in the bottom 30 percent income group was 5,200 pesos in 2009 while it was 22,300 pesos in the upper 70 percent income group (Table 2c).

Highest Income Earners Continue To Contribute More Than One-Third To The Income Of All Families (Final Results from the 2006 Family Income and Expenditure Survey)

Filipino families earned a total of P3.01 trillion in 2006 according to the final results of the 2006 Family Income and Expenditure Survey (FIES). Distributing this total annual income among the estimated 17.4 million Filipino families in 2006 resulted in an average annual family income of approximately P173 thousand. The total annual family expenditure was approximately P2.56 trillion, or P147 thousand per family on the average (Table 1).
