2003 Annual Survey of Philippine Business And Industry (ASPBI) - Manufacturing for Establishments with Average Total Employment of 20 or More : Preliminary Results

National Capital Region leads in number of manufacturing establishments

The number of manufacturing establishments with average total employment (ATE) of 20 or more workers reached 5,899 in 2003. Food manufactures except beverages dominated the sector with 960 establishments or 16.3 percent of the total. Wearing apparel ranked second with 700 establishments (11.9%) while chemical products followed with 378 establishments (6.4%).

2. Almost half (47.3%) or 2,789 of the manufacturing establishments with ATE 20 or more were located in the National Capital Region. A far second was CALABARZON with 1,343 establishments (22.8%). Central Visayas and Central Luzon accounted for 539 (9.1%) and 519 (8.8%) establishments, respectively. (See Figure 1)

The total number of manufacturing establishments with average total employment (ATE) of 20 and over covered in the 2005 ASPBI registered 6,554. This reflected an increase of 11.1 percent from the 5,901 establishments covered in 2003. Food except beverages accounted for the largest share with 17.8 percent (1,167 establishments) of the total. Wearing apparel comprised the second largest group with 12.1 percent (791 establishments). This was followed by chemical products and publishing and printing with 6.2 percent and 6.0 percent, respectively, of the total.

2006 Census of Philippine Business and Industry (CPBI) - Manufacturing With Average Total Employment of 20 and Over : Preliminary Results

The 2006 Census of Philippine Business and Industry (CPBI) covered a total of 5,024 establishments with average total employment (ATE) of 20 and over. Majority of the establishments with ATE of 20 and over, or 84.3 percent, were private corporations, followed by manufacturing establishments having their legal organization as single proprietorship (13.9%). The remaining, comprising of 1.79 percent, were cooperatives, partnerships and government corporations.

Monthly Integrated Survey of Selected Industries

 

Discusses the results of the Monthly Integrated Survey of Selected Industries (MISSI), a special study conducted by the NSO to provide flash indicators on the performance of growth-oriented industries.

Majority of the establishments covered are located in Metro Manila, engaged principally in manufacturing, and belong the country's top 500 corporations. It presents indices on production, employment, and compensation in simple tabular forms.
