The value of production index (VPI) in key manufacturing enterprises slightly increased by 0.5 percent to 438.2 in May 1997 from 436.1 a year ago. On a month-on-month comparison, VPI decreased by 0.8 percent from 441.9 last April 1997. These figures were based on the results of the Survey of Key Enterprises in Manufacturing (SKEM), a regular monthly survey of the National Statistics Office (NSO) aimed to provide flash indicators on the performance of key manufacturing enterprises.

Year-on-year increases

The value of production index (VPI) in key manufacturing enterprises decreased by 2.3 percent to 460.2 in March 1997 from 470.8 a year ago. On a month-on-month comparison, VPI increased by 0.3 percent from 458.7 last February 1997. These figures were based on the results of the Survey of Key Enterprises in Manufacturing (SKEM), a regular monthly survey of the National Statistics Office (NSO) aimed to provide flash indicators on the performance of key manufacturing enterprises.
