Monthly Integrated Survey of Selected Industries : March 2000

Manufacturing production, as measured by the value of production index (VaPI) and volume of production index (VoPI), went up by 11.0 percent and 2.6 percent, respectively, in March 2000 according to the preliminary results of the Monthly Integrated Survey of Selected Industries (MISSI). However these were slowdowns as were seen also in February in contrast to the significant pick-ups in December and January . Moreover prior to March, the trend of production appeared to be moving since July 1999 in a cycle of one month decline followed by three months growth.

Manufacturing production, as measured by the value of production index (VaPI) and volume of production (VoPI), went up by 35.8 percent and 23.9 percent respectively in July 2000 according to the preliminary results of the Monthly Integrated Survey of Selected Industries (MISSI). Moreover, the growth in the VoPI was a reversal from the 1.7 percent contraction in July last year.

Value of Production Index (VaPI) for the manufacturing industry recorded a slower year-on-year decline of 18.9 percent in February 2009, according to the preliminary results of the Monthly Integrated Survey of Selected Industries (MISSI). Sixteen out of 20 major sectors reported decreases, with two-digit decline observed in the following: petroleum products, leather products, basic metals, miscellaneous manufactures, footwear and wearing apparel, publishing and printing, transport equipment, machinery except electrical, tobacco products, electrical machinery, paper and paper products, and furniture and fixtures.
