Manufacturing Output Up in 2000

Manufacturing output for the whole year 2000 increased by 14.0 percent in volume and 23.4 percent growth in value. The growth in volume exceeded the 3.5 percent growth in 1999 and the growth in the value of production also surpassed the 8.6 percent growth the previous year.

Paper & paper products had the highest year-on-year growth among the sectors registering a 43.2 percent increase in its VoPI.

Other sectors with double-digit growth in 2000 were electrical machinery (32.4%), miscellaneous manufactures (29.1%), furniture & fixtures (19.3%), and wearing apparel (17.4%).

These positive developments were however affected by weakness in other sectors, like textile products (-23.1%), basic metals (-15.0%), wood & wood products (-4.7%), food manufacturing (-4.2%), rubber products (-3.9%), beverage (-1.7%), chemicals (-1.6%) and non-metallic mineral products (-0.9%).

Value of Production recovers in April 2007

Value of Production Index (VaPI) for the manufacturing industry slightly recovered at a rate of 0.1 percent in April 2007 from the seven-month decline since September 2006, according to the preliminary results of the Monthly Integrated Survey of Selected Industries (MISSI). Sectors that mainly influenced the increase in production were the following: wood and wood products, publishing and printing, non-metallic mineral products, transport equipment and beverages. Value of Production Index (VaPI) for the manufacturing industry posted a year-on-year growth of 9.6 percent in June 2006 compared with the year-ago figure, according to the preliminary results of the Monthly Integrated Survey of Selected Industries (MISSI). Sectors that reported significant expansion in production were the following: leather products, basic metals, petroleum products, fabricated metal products, food manufacturing, beverages and textiles. Value of Production continues its downtrend in March 2007

Value of Production Index (VaPI) for the manufacturing industry was still on its downtrend as it posted a decrease of 5.2 percent in March 2007, according to the preliminary results of the Monthly Integrated Survey of Selected Industries (MISSI). Twelve of the 20 major sectors reported declines in production, with two-digit decreases observed in the following major sectors: textiles, tobacco, machinery excluding electrical, footwear and wearing apparel, electrical machinery, rubber products and miscellaneous manufactures. Monthly Integrated Survey of Selected Industries : January 2010

Value of Production Index (VaPI) of the manufacturing industry grew further, reflecting a two-digit increment of 38.2 percent in January 2010, according to the preliminary results of the Monthly Integrated Survey of Selected Industries (MISSI). Increases in production were reported by 15 major sectors, led by petroleum products and electrical machinery, with 316.4 percent and 94.1 percent, respectively. Other major sectors that significantly contributed to the growth were the following: basic metal, machinery except electrical, wood and wood products, miscellaneous manufactures, transport equipment, non-metallic mineral products, rubber and plastic products, tobacco products, leather products, fabricated metal products, chemical products, food manufacturing and publishing and printing.
