Monthly Integrated Survey of Selected Industries : April 1998

Introduction

These results were based on the interim Monthly Integrated Survey of Selected Industries (MISSI) of the National Statistics Office with the Department of Trade and Industry which will eventually provide flash indicators on the performance of industrial enterprises such as production, sales, employment, compensation, inventory of raw materials and finished products, and capacity utilization. The MISSI is a key feature arising from a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) forged between the two offices along with the National Statistical Coordination Board, the Federation of Philippine Industries and the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The MISSI will eventually provide flash indicators on the performance of industrial enterprises such as production, sales, employment, compensation, inventory of raw materials and finished products, and capacity utilization. The integration of the NSO and DTI surveys is the key feature arising from a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) forged between the two offices along with the National Statistical Coordination Board, the Federation of Philippine Industries and the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Monthly Integrated Survey of Selected Industries : October 1997

The VPI in key manufacturing enterprises rose by 8.1 percent to 484.9 in October 1997 from 448.7 last year. On a month-on-month comparison, the VPI increased by 0.4 from 483.0 in September 1997. These figures were based on the results of the Survey of Key Enterprises in Manufacturing (SKEM), a regular monthly survey of the National Statistics Office aimed to provide flash indicators on the performance of key manufacturing enterprises.
