Personal services for wellness, except sports activities industry dominates other service activities section

From the preliminary results of the 2010 Annual Survey of Philippine Business and Industry, the Philippines had a total of 282 establishments with total employment (TE) of 20 and over engaged in Other Service Activities. Personal services for wellness, except sports activities topped the sector with 212 establishments or 75.2 percent. This was followed by Repair of personal and household goods industry with 22 establishments (7.8%). Figure 1 shows the percent distribution of establishments by industry group in 2010.

Majority of establishments are engaged in Other amusement and recreation activities, n.e.c.

Based on the preliminary results of the 2010 Annual Survey of Philippine Business and Industry conducted nationwide, with 2010 as the reference year, the Philippines had a total of 193 establishments with total employment (TE) of 20 and over engaged in Arts, Entertainment and Recreation. As shown in Figure 1, Other amusement and recreation activities, n.e.c. garnered the highest number of establishments at 80 (41.4%). The Sports activities ranked second with 54 (28.0%). Libraries, archives, museums and other cultural activities on the other hand, recorded the lowest number of establishments with only 9 (4.7%).

A total of 39,425 establishments engaged in other community, social and personal service activities were covered in 2003 Annual Survey of Philippine Business and Industry. Most of these establishments, 38,888 or 98.6 percent had an average total employment (ATE) of less than 20 while only 537 or 1.4 percent had ATE of 20 or more.

Majority of establishments had an average total employment of less than 20

The number of establishments engaged in other community, social and personal service activities reached 39,865 in 2001. Establishments with an average total employment (ATE) of less than 20 dominated the sector with 39,214 or 98.4 percent of the total. The remaining 651 establishments or 1.6 percent had an average total employment of 20 and over. (See Table 1 to Table 3)

A total of 45,817 establishments were covered in 2005 Annual Survey of Philippine Business and Industry (ASPBI) for other community, social and personal service sector. Of the total figure, 98.2 percent or 44,986 establishments had an average total employment (ATE) of less than 20 while the remaining 1.8 percent or 831 establishments had ATE of 20 or more. (See Tables 1 to 3.)
