One out of five or 19.8 percent of the total Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) worked in Saudi Arabia during the period April to September 2007. More than one in every ten OFWs (12.1%) worked in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). OFWs who worked in Europe accounted for 9.2 percent while those who worked in North and South America recorded a percent share of 9.3 percent. Hongkong (6.7%), Singapore (6.0%), Japan (5.6%) and Taiwan (5.5%) were also the favorite destinations of OFWs in Asia.

The number of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) who worked abroad at anytime during the period April to September 2007 was registered at 1.75 million. This represents an increase of 15.3 percent over the estimated 1.52 million OFWs in April to September 2006. Out of the total OFWs during the period April to September 2007, 92.4 percent (1.61 million) were Overseas Contract Workers (OCWs) or those with existing work-contract abroad. The number of OCWs in April to September 2007 went up by 16.6 percent over the 1.38 million OCWs estimated for the same months in 2006.

The number of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) during the period April to September 2005 was estimated at 1.33 million. This number is 12.5 percent more than the 1.18 million OFWs estimated for the period April to September 2004. The overseas contract workers (OCWs) or those with existing work-contract comprised 91.6 percent of the total OFWs during the period April to September 2005. This number is higher by about 1.22 million or by 10.7 percent over the estimate for the same months in 2004 (1.10 million).
