Batangas: Close to Two Million Persons

The population of Batangas, as of May 1, 2000, was 1,905,348 persons. This was up by 246,781 persons as compared to 1,658,567 persons recorded in the 1995 Census of Population.

Samar (Western): Population Grew by 1.12 Percent Annually

The number of households was posted at 135,355 in 2007, or an increase of 11,109 households from the 2000 figure. Likewise, household population increased from 640,079 persons in 2000 to 693,889 persons in 2007. The average household size in 2007 was 5.1 persons, the same figure reported in 2000.

Bataan: Population Reached the 500 Thousand Mark

The total population of Bataan, as of May 2000 was 557,659 persons, an increase of 66,200 persons over the 1995 census count of 491,459 persons. This figure translated to an annual growth rate of 2.74 percent, higher than the 2.72 percent annual growth rate reported during the 1990 to 1995 period.

Yakans Dominated Basilan

The total population of Basilan, as of May 1, 2000, was 332,828 persons. This implied an increase of 37,263 persons over the 1995 census figure or an average annual growth rate of 2.58 percent. This was 1.53 percentage points lower than the average growth rate recorded in 1995 (4.1 percent). A corresponding increase on the number of households was also registered, from 55,137 households in 1995 to 61,546 in 2000. This resulted to an average household size of 5.4 persons, higher than the national average of five persons.

Basilan's Population Exceeded 400 Thousand

The population of Basilan (excluding City of Isabela) was 408,520 persons as of August 1, 2007, based on the 2007 Census of Population. This figure is higher by 148,724 persons than the population count of 259,796 persons in 2000. The said population counts for the province translated to an annual population growth rate (PGR) of 6.44 percent for the period 2000 to 2007, higher than the 2.93 percent annual PGR registered for the period 1995 to 2000.
