The province of Abra registered a total population of 209,491 persons in the year 2000, an increase of 13,527 persons from the 1995 results. This figure translated to an average annual growth rate of 1.44 percent, a slight increase from the 1990 to 1995 period of 1.11 percent. The number of households also rose to 40,709, higher by 3,945 households compared to the 1995 figure. This gave an average household size of 5.1 persons, a slight decrease from 1995 (5.3) and slight increase from the national average (five persons).

The 2000 Census of Population and Housing (Census 2000) results showed that Maguindanao registered a total population of 801,102 persons, higher by 138,922 persons over the 1995 Census of Population (POPCEN) results. This figure recorded a 4.16 percent annual population growth rate, higher by 3.25 percentage points than the annual population growth rate during the 1990 to 1995 period. A corresponding increase on the number of households was also recorded at 143,669 households, higher by 14,802 households over the 1995 figure. This resulted to an average household size of 5.57 persons, slightly higher than the average household size (5.13 persons) recorded five years ago and the national average of five persons.

Lanao del Sur, one of the four provinces of Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) reported a total population of 669,072 persons in the 2000 Census of Population and Housing. This implied an increase of 97,268 persons over the 1995 census figure.
