Summary Inflation Report Consumer Price Index (1994=100) : June 1999

The rates for food, beverages and tobacco (FBT) slowed down to 3.5 percent in June from 5.7 percent in May; clothing, 6.0 percent from 6.7 percent; and miscellaneous items, 4.8 percent from 5.3 percent. On the other hand, the rates increased for housing and repairs (HR), 9.6 percent in June from 8.9 percent in May; fuel, light and water (FLW), 5.6 percent from 5.4 percent; and services, 11.0 percent from 9.1 percent.

The rates for all commodity groups except for fuel, light and water (FLW) slowed down. Food, beverages and tobacco (FBT) moved down to 5.7 percent in May from 7.8 percent in April; housing and repairs (H&R), 8.9 percent from 9.4 percent; services, 9.1 percent from 9.3 percent; miscellaneous items, 5.3 percent from 6.1 percent and clothing, 6.8 percent from 7.3 percent. The rate for FLW picked up to 5.4 percent from 5.0 percent.

The rates for food, beverages and tobacco (FBT) slowed down to 7.8 percent in April from 9.2 percent in March; housing and repairs (H&R), 9.4 percent from 9.7 percent; miscellaneous items, 6.1 percent from 6.7 percent; and clothing, 7.3 percent from 7.5 percent. On the other hand, the rates increased for services , 9.5 percent in April from 9.1 percent in March, and fuel, light and water (FLW), 5.0 percent from 4.5 percent.

Inflation in food, beverages and tobacco (FBT) slowed to 9.2 percent in March from 11.2 percent in February; services, 9.0 percent from 9.9 percent; miscellaneous items, 6.7 percent from 7.5 percent; and clothing, 7.5 percent from 8.1 percent. The rate for housing and repairs (H&R) remained at the February rate of 9.7 percent while that for fuel, light and water (FLW) increased in March to 4.3 percent from 3.5 percent.

The rates for food, beverages and tobacco (FBT) slowed down to 11.2 percent in February from 13.0 percent in January; clothing, 8.1 percent from 9.1 percent; housing and repairs (H&R), 9.7 percent from 10.5 percent; fuel, light and water (FLW), 3.7 percent from 5.4 percent; services, 10.0 percent from 10.5 percent; and miscellaneous items, 7.5 percent from 9.3 percent.
