There were 476,408 marriages registered in 2011 showing a decline of 1.3 percent from the previous year’s figure of 482,480. Since 2009, the number of registered marriages in the country has been declining.
The information presented herein was obtained from the marriage certificates (Municipal Form No. 97) submitted by the City/Municipal Registrars from all over the country to the Office of the Civil Registrar General for processing and archiving purposes. There was no adjustment for underregistration in the presentation
There were 490,054 marriages that were registered in 2007. The number represented a decrease of 2,612 marriages or 0.5 percent from the 2006 figure of 492,666.
