Value of Production on the downtrend

Value of Production Index (VaPI) for the manufacturing industry declined by 9.6 percent in December 2008, after registering positive growths in the last eight months since April 2008, according to the preliminary results of the Monthly Integrated Survey of Selected Industries (MISSI). This maybe due to the lackluster performance in 12 major sectors led by miscellaneous manufactures, petroleum products, machinery except electrical, furniture and fixtures, textiles, publishing and printing, electrical machinery, basic metals, and transport equipment. Value of Production improves in September 2007

Value of Production Index (VaPI) for the manufacturing industry recovered at a slower rate of 0.7 percent in September 2007 compared to a (revised) decrease of 4.5 percent during the previous month, according to the preliminary results of the Monthly Integrated Survey of Selected Industries (MISSI). Twelve major sectors reported expansion in production, with two-digit increases noted in the following: leather products, wood and wood products, chemical products, transport equipment and publishing and printing. Value of Production posts slower growth in November 2008

Value of Production Index (VaPI) for the manufacturing industry grew at a slower rate of 1.4 percent in November 2008 compared with the year-ago figure, according to the preliminary results of the Monthly Integrated Survey of Selected Industries (MISSI). Sectors that significantly contributed to the increase were the following: beverages, fabricated metal products, food manufacturing, footwear and wearing apparel, non-metallic mineral products, wood and wood products, publishing and printing, rubber and plastic products, and leather products. Value of Production Index (VaPI) for total manufacturing increased at a slower pace in August 2011 as it posted a growth of 2.6 percent, according to the preliminary results of the Monthly Integrated Survey of Selected Industries (MISSI). This maybe attributed to the lower production values of basic metals. However, nine of 13 major sectors reported two-digit increases in production values, namely: furniture and fixtures, petroleum products, rubber and plastic products, beverages, miscellaneous manufactures, paper and paper products, chemical products, publishing and printing and leather products.
